Uspenski Cathedral is the largest Orthodox Church in Western Europe. Completed in 1868 in Helsinki, Finland on a rock outcrop, it was originally intended for an Imperial Palace. The Byzantine-Russian Architectural style has onion domes that are 22kt gold. This quilt was inspired by the enthusiastic photography of artist, Jeremie McGowan who studied in Finland as a Fulbright Scholar.

It has been shown at Piedmont Craftsmen Gallery in Winston-Salem in 2004, Gallery 101 in Manteo in 2005, and it was selected for the show titled “Trading Spaces” at the Target Gallery in the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA in 2007.

This quilt was sold and hangs in a private residence in Arlington, VA
